Howdy PALZ pardners! We’ll be a ridin’ out to parts of the Old West this month. We’re exploring Arizona, Nevada and Utah. I bet you’re ready to saddle up and ride. But first we need to read a postcard we just got from Mr. Lucky!

Miss Kitty’s Intel
While on vacation with his family at a ranch in Arizona, Mr. Lucky’s been surrounded by cowboys. He sent the PALZ team a postcard, but he used so many cowboy words in his message that my fur stood straight up! Help me figure out what Mr. Lucky was trying to tell us. I hope my fur comes back down soon!
Hold up there PALZ Pardners! Before ya go, we have an update. Miss Kitty thanks you for helping her read Mr. Lucky’s postcard. Her fur has come back down! Yippee!
Smilla’s Adventures
Welcome Pardners! I scouted out the lay of the land (that’s cowboy talk for gathering information) on places to visit in Arizona, Utah and Nevada. So let’s hop on our horses and hightail it to each state!
Our first stop is Tuscon, Arizona where you can visit the Old Tuscon movie set and theme park! Watch amazing stunt shows and demonstrations. See some old Western costumes and movie props at the Shelton Hall Museum. Pan for gold at the Greedy Mining Company! Whew, so much to do and see here, I can’t list it all!
Our next stop is the ghost town of Grafton, Utah. Ooo! A ghost town! Just kidding! I reckon there aren’t any ghosts living in Grafton. Imagine living in the late 1800’s as you roam the grounds around the really old homes and buildings that are still standing! Oh, and don’t forget to take pictures. Grafton is not far from Zion National Park and the Virginia River so there is plenty of awesome scenery!
Our last stop is Virginia City, Nevada! The whole town of Virginia City is on the National Register for Historic places! That means it’s really old. You can stroll down sidewalks made of wood or catch an “Outlaws Wild West Comedy Show” at the Western amphitheater. Be sure to tour the Piper Opera House where many famous people, like Mark Twain and cowboy Buffalo Bill, performed. There are lots of fun things to see and to do in Virginia City so don’t miss this stop!
